A couple years ago I did the 60 mile 3 day walk for breast cancer with the Susan G. Komen foundation and Affiliate Marketers Give Back which is lead by the fantastic and super motivated Missy Ward from Affiliate Summit.
Not only was this one of the most amazing things I ever did in my life, but it was also one of the most emotional things I had ever done. It was not only trying and taxing on your body and your will power, but it also proves that you can do more than most people and by watching the reactions of all of the people who line up to wave, drive by and honk and the thousands who go to the cheering stations to cheer the walkers on, you know you were able to be one of many who were able to make a difference. Not to mention we all were able to raise over $2,000 USD for a really good cause to help women fight breast cancer, as well as prove to ourselves that we can really push ourselves to do something insane like walk 60 miles in a 3 day period. (I do have to be honest though, I broke my foot on the second day and had to miss out on part of the walk, but I jumped back in the third day and did the last 10 or so miles on a broken foot and for me that meant the world to me and my Great Aunt Lucielle who went online for the very first time in her life, she was 96 years old and made a donation while I was on the last 2 miles on a broken foot and inspired me to finish the walk.
Anyways, here is the point now that I rambled on for a few paragraphs and wasted a couple of minutes of your life lol, When I was going through customs today with my Poken the Vamp, I emptied all of my coins into the plastic container to go through the metal detector and when I looked down, one of the Canadian Quarters was flipped over and on the back side of the Canadian Quarter there was a pink ribbon for Breast Cancer!
After doing the Susan G. Komen walk for the cure, the pink ribbon means a lot more to you and you notice it just about everywhere you see it so when I saw it on this quarter I thought it was the coolest thing on earth that the Country of Canada decided to support Breast Cancer by placing a pink ribbon on the back of some of their quarters. Sure it sucks for the other organizations like the two I support the most, AIDS and Animal Rescue No Kill Shelters, but at the same time, that is really cool to see a Country support a good cause. What I think would be even better though is to sort of follow what the USA did with the state quarters except they would choose a different major cause each year like this year do Breast Cancer, next year do AIDS, the year after do Animal Rescue, after that do Hunger, etc…. That would be seriously cool as well as get people collecting them and helping to also boost the economy again.
Anyways, I wanted to share this really cool Canadian Quarter with you and why I thought it was a seriously cool idea.
